Children’s Clothes for Donation on Staten Island
Free Kids Clothing is available to families in need on Staten Island.
The Assertive Kids Foundation has maintained a program since 2020 that accepts the donation of children’s clothing on Staten Island, and also provides children’s clothing to local families, churches, and other charitable organizations that also give to those in need amongst us.
Some parents work hard and still can’t meet expenses. For many struggling families, donated clothing that our Foundation provides them with can make the difference between paying bills and not paying bills, or even keeping their kids or not, as Child Welfare Services require that parents keep their kids clothed in neat, clean clothes that fit well. It’s that last part that is of issue; kids have growth spurts and new clothes are expensive.
We have free clothes for girls and boys in all sizes.

Making the Greatest Impact on Local Kids and Families
Donating to The Assertive Kids Foundation helps kids right in your own community, right on the Island.
This is your best option for helping to make the greatest change for local families and children.
We accept used kids clothing in all conditions from New-With-Tags to play condition.
Families appreciate everything as kids need clothes for formal events, clothes for school, casual clothing, and even distressed clothing for play.
Many families will even take the time and effort to get out a stain. So, if you have a beautiful dress, but the ravioli dinner at your kid’s event has left its mark, please don’t discard. Many families in today’s world will still value an $80 dress and can make it like new again.

Beware of Clothing Drop Boxes!
Clothing and Shoe Drop Boxes, in the best-case scenario, are owned and operated by a charity that sells the clothing you bring to them by the ton to overseas brokers who then sell the clothing on other continents, often Africa. You help clothes to have a second life, help the used apparel industry to continue, businesses that provides many jobs, and help the charity to get the cash it needs to fuel whatever important programs they have. But the clothes do not go to families. If the programs they support are important to you, then this is a good option, but be aware of what and what is not involved.
Some Clothing Drop-Boxes are actually not run by Non-Profit companies, and sell the clothing to brokers. In New York, we now have a law, and such Drop Boxes must be clearly labeled.
Alternatively, there are many other charities that pick up clothing. Again, if you don’t ask to be sure, you won’t find out if the charity you’re donating to actually provides the clothing to local kids. Just like with the scenario described above, where charities operate Drop Boxes, most of the time, these clothes are sold on wholesale markets by the ton and the non-profit gets the funds for their own use.
